Speaking of which, here’s your reminder that your property taxes are due November 1 (delinquent after December 10). Property taxes are one of the topics about which I get the most questions. Impound accounts, Prop. 19, taxes on inherited property, supplemental bills – all topics of confusion for people surrounding property taxes. Just in case you want some direction on one of the ballot measures on which we’re about to vote – Prop. 33 comes to mind. I’ve been in the real estate business coming up on 30 years now. I strongly believe in individual property owner’s rights. This proposition is another attempt to limit those rights and stifle that natural economics of my industry – which have proved to be pretty darn efficient for the last few hundred years. So if you’re undecided and need a push – VOTE NO on Prop 33.

Of course, I always get asked what someone’s home is worth before they sell it. Easy question and difficult answer… if you do it right. I can tell you that one of the worst ways to determine your home’s value is to look on Zillow or the like. There is definitely and right way and wrong way to determine value.
