Many of you may remember that for some time, I sat on the Board of the Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego. (Formerly the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation). Their mission is to engage the community in a continuum of water safety programs and initiatives that provide access to the life-saving skill of swimming. While I am no longer on the Board, I am still a huge supporter of their mission.

Drowning is the single leading cause of death for children 1 to 4 years old, and it is the second-leading cause of unintentional injury death for those under 14. There is something we can do about it: drowning is preventable.

With that in mind, I have decided, to once again (I know right, having a hard time believing it myself 😉) participate in a local fundraising event called Swim 24Challenge.

Our mission is to raise the most money to provide swim lessons for children whose families otherwise could not afford them.
