An extra day to enjoy the city I call home. 🤍

My kind of Labor Day weekend starts with coffee and a pastry, leaves room for a long walk by the bay, and ends somewhere with a view.

A little Dogpatch, a little Potrero Hill, and plenty of time to linger. These are the everyday moments that make a neighborhood feel like home—and a long weekend gives me time to appreciate them.

When people ask if downtown San Francisco is coming back, I stop pointing at headlines and start pointing at leases.

Here’s one worth your attention. One Market Plaza, right on the Embarcadero, lost both Google and Visa over the past couple of years. This week Disney is moving in with a 76,000 square foot lease, and it isn’t the only new tenant. The building is quietly filling back up.

So why care if you own, or want to own, in District 9, our stretch of South Beach, Mission Bay and Dogpatch? Because office demand on the waterfront is the engine underneath your condo. When names like Disney choose this side of the city, it chips away at the story buyers love to tell right now, that downtown is empty, so I should offer less.

I won’t oversell it. One lease is a signal, not a recovery. But this is the kind of signal that shows up in sentiment first and pricing later. When a brand like Disney bets on the waterfront, the corridor it anchors gets a little more defensible.
