Buying a home is becoming more affordable — and this graph shows why.

It highlights how much of a household’s income typically goes toward owning a home. As a general rule, spending 30% or less of your income on housing is considered affordable.

Over the past few years, that number climbed well above the comfort zone. But recently, the trend has started to shift — thanks to lower mortgage rates, slower home price growth, and rising wages.

Affordability isn’t going to reset overnight. But the direction matters — and right now, it’s finally moving the right way.
