Are you in the DC area and looking for the perfect fall getaway? These towns would make a perfect weekend destination:

1) Harper’s Ferry: the historical downtown, nestled in Harper’s Ferry National Park, is breathtaking in the Fall. There are many easy hikes and charming restaurants to fit into your trip. Don’t forget to take a picture near The Point where the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers come together. 🍁

2) Berkeley Springs: itching for a spa day? Take a drive to Berkeley Springs where you can lounge in the mineral springs, hike in Cacapon Resort State Park, and leave feeling rejuvenated.

3) Tucker County: The towns of Thomas and Davis sit close together in Tucker County and are the outdoorsman’s dream. They boast both Blackwater Falls State park and Canaan Valley Resort State Park. There are endless trails and GORGEOUS views not to mention charming local restaurants. We will be going back.

Reasons to visit Jefferson County, WV:

1) Shockingly fabulous coffee ☕️ I am stunned by the number of excellent hyper local coffee shops. Here are a few to get you started: ˈep.ə.ɡræm Lagazellecoffee Libby Powell Theblackdogcoffeeco Appalachian Snail Market & Cafe Amy & Alex’s Homemade Ice Cream & Coffee

2) GORGEOUS views…I live here and I am always stunned by how beautiful Harper’s Ferry is in the fall. 🍂🍁 Take a walk through HarpersFerryNPS and see the amazing history. Sit at The Rabbit Hole for lunch and enjoy a truly breathtaking view.

3) Insanely cool local businesses 🤗- we have so much to offer in Historically Hip Charles Town, WV. Stop by any of the local shops or events every weekend and you will find something worth taking home with you. Prismatic Art Studio is perfect for the arts and crafts enthusiast with their range of classes. They also feature local artists in their retail space. Homespun Charles Town is my current favorite restaurant and Wild and Wonderful Play Cafe - Eastern Panhandle is our go to spot for toddler entertainment. (They also have great coffee) We have new bakeries and shops popping up every month.

4) Slower pace of life 😌…unwind this weekend at one of our Bed & Breakfast spots and enjoy a the small town feel. The food is great (shout out to Alma Bea and Rock Hill ) and the people are friendly.

I have listed several smaller spaces lately and there ARE ways to transform the look of your home without breaking the bank.

If your home feels small- or you have dark spaces- do these three budget friendly upgrades:

1) De-clutter: every home feels small when there is too much stuff inside. 🫣 I am guilty of this and have been working on it all year. Clutter WILL leave buyers with a negative impression of your home.

2) Lighter paint: dark hallways and small rooms feel instantly more spacious with a lighter paint color…and it is one of the most affordable ways to update your home. 🎨

3) Upgrade your light fixtures: if you have outdated light fixtures, swapping them out for more modern options that provide more light to your space makes a huge difference 💡
