For years, Washington told American families that homeownership was out of reach and did little about it.

The Federal Reserve just revealed a major reason why.

A new study from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas found that illegal immigration drove up home prices 30% and rent 20% under Biden — with no corresponding increase in housing supply to absorb it. Millions of illegal aliens flooded in, competed with American families for the same finite housing stock, and Americans paid the price.

What Washington didn’t tell you is that it was actively making it worse. While you were getting priced out, the FHA — your taxpayer-backed mortgage program — was handing federally subsidized loans to noncitizens with no permanent legal status. Six percent of all FHA-insured mortgages went to non-permanent resident borrowers. American taxpayers funded a system designed to work against them.

Yesterday I introduced the Homeownership Eligibility Reform Act to end it permanently. Taxpayer-backed mortgages through FHA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac for U.S. citizens only — locked into statute so no future Democrat president can undo it.

The Federal Reserve proved the problem; my bill is a timely, necessary, and prudent remedy to address it.
