We really are doing our best but this sort of damage is so heartbreaking and the money it all takes to fix is no joke. One night’s mindless ‘fun’ for a few silly people has meant a whole day of lost revenue for one of our businesses AND a huge amount of damage to our tenants ladies loos which our service charge will have to pay for.
Please do support our businesses- use them or lose them as they say 💕
We love being part of this community, but today we need to share a bit of the reality behind our shopfronts.
As many of you know, our arcade has seen better days. While the building lacks investment from the landlord, we—the small business owners—have tried to step up. We’ve formed a Tenants Association and a voluntary management team to keep this space running on a very small budget, all while juggling our own shops.
Unfortunately, the continued vandalism and antisocial behaviour by certain individuals is making a hard job even harder. Fox & Kit cafe turned up this morning to find their door window smashed. We do have cameras covering this area and the police have been informed.
In this economic climate, every penny counts. When damage or theft occurs, we have to pay insurance excesses out of our own pockets—money that should be going toward stock, staff, and keeping our doors open.
Please help us protect our livelihoods. If you see something, say something. We’re working hard to keep this arcade alive for you—please help us keep it safe. We’re more than just shops; we’re your neighbours. Please respect the space and support the shops that are working overtime to stay here.
Thank you for reading this far xx
