Electric Bill Shocker: Many Illinois residents are seeing their June bills increase by over $100.00...and it is gonna get worse!

[Q: How much did your electric bill go up?]

Background: The State of Illinois approved a rate increase for ComEd. June electric bills have just arrived and many are reporting that their bills have increased by 'triple digits" - Partially because of the heat wave and partially due to the rate increase approved by the Illinois Commerce Commission.

Members of the Illinois Commerce Commission are appointed by Governor Pritzker with the advice and consent of the Democrat controlled Senate.

The Chicago Tribune reports that:

"Things could get even worse next year, based on another record rate increase at an annual capacity auction Tuesday, which will set ComEd’s price beginning in June 2026."
