50 years of ASHI. šŸ•µļøā€ā™‚ļøšŸ”

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the American Society of Home Inspectors alongside its Founder, Ron Passaro …what an honor.

Being mentored by Ron and standing beside him at this milestone moment was incredibly special. He helped build this profession from the ground up and I’m proud to carry that legacy forward.

Even more meaningful? Sharing it with Elaine and my mom, Lurene. Family, legacy, education all in one unforgettable week.

Super grateful and inspired. Ready for the next 50 years. Here we go!!

šŸ” Buying an Older Home? Cast-Iron Pipes Are Common.

Many older homes have cast-iron drain pipes, and buyers often ask what their options are if issues are found. One possible solution is pipe lining, which may help address damaged or deteriorated cast-iron pipes without full replacement.

āœ”ļø Less invasive than pipe replacement
āœ”ļø May extend the life of existing pipes
āœ”ļø Often reduces disruption to finished spaces

Not every situation qualifies, but it’s an option worth discussing with qualified professionals when concerns arise. Having good information helps buyers make confident decisions.

As I look ahead to InspectionWorld 2026, I’m reminded how fortunate I am to be part of such an incredible profession and community.

I’ve been especially grateful over the years to learn the home inspection profession through the guidance and mentorship of my stepfather, Ron Passaro. For more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of learning not just the technical side of inspections, but also the importance of integrity, education, and giving back to the profession.

This year’s conference holds special meaning, as American Society of Home Inspectors celebrates its 50th anniversary, and Ron will be honored at the opening ceremony for his role as ASHI’s founder. It’s truly humbling to witness the lasting impact his dedication has had on inspectors across the country.

We’re very much looking forward to attending this historic conference together and celebrating a milestone for one of the most influential inspection organizations in the world.

I’m excited to share the InspectionWorld 2026 link below and to be part of this meaningful moment in our industry’s history.

Make the most of IW.

As we step into the New Year, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for an incredible opportunity ahead and for the many people who made this year so meaningful.

I am deeply honored to have been chosen as the successor inspection company endorsed to continue the mission and standards of RES-I-TEC Inc., founded by Ron Passaro, founder of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). RES-I-TEC has represented professionalism, education, and integrity in Connecticut for nearly 50 years, and being entrusted with carrying this legacy forward is both humbling and exciting.

This opportunity would not have been possible without the mentorship and guidance of Joe McCann, whose professionalism and integrity have had a lasting impact on RES-I-TEC. I am sincerely grateful to both Ron and Joe for the trust they have placed in me.

I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of my clients, realtors, and real estate professionals who trusted me this past year. Your confidence, referrals, and continued support have played a significant role in this next chapter, and I am truly thankful for the relationships we’ve built.

As we enter the New Year, I do so with gratitude, responsibility, and great enthusiasm for what lies ahead. I look forward to continuing to serve homeowners and real estate professionals with the same commitment to clarity, integrity, and home inspection excellence.

Here’s to a strong 2026!

Warm regards,

During our home inspections, we often find generator hook ups. Homebuyers often have many questions regarding what their options are for operating or installing a generator hook up. This is a great video by This Old House, explaining a generator hook ups, safe ļæ¼operation, ļæ¼interlock switches and generator transfer switches.
In many areas in Connecticut it is essential to have a generator back up. It’s always best to plan ahead before you lose power. ļæ¼

Do you struggle with poor air quality inside your home? Poor air quality inside your home can have serious effects on your health and your familyā€˜s health. Proper air filtration systems inside a home can help improve your home’s air quality.
ļæ¼This is a great short video explaining air filtration using Merv rated filters.
I often explain the benefits of Merv 13 or 14 during home inspections.ļæ¼
It is always recommended to speak with a licensed HVAC specialist to advise you on your options for what is the highest rated air filter that can be installed in your forced air system. ļæ¼
