⚠️ Rental Scam Warning ⚠️
We’ve recently discovered that scammers are copying photos from our legitimate rental listings and reposting them on other websites. They often claim the property is available, ask you to text a phone number, and then pressure you into sending a deposit before you’ve even seen the home.
Please protect yourself:
🏠 Always verify who owns or manages the property. If you found it on Zillow or another rental website, you should be able to confirm the property manager or owner through the listing or by contacting the management company directly. Facebook can be more tricky. Always search the address for additional information and verification. If the home is for sale or listed for rent at a high price somewhere else you’re likely talking to a scammer!
🚫 Never send a security deposit or large application fee (should not exceed around $30) before you’ve toured the property.
👀 If someone refuses to let you see the unit in person, claims they’re “out of town,” or insists you must pay immediately to hold it, those are major red flags.
📞 When in doubt, call the company or property manager using the contact information listed on their official website or verified listing, not just the phone number provided in a text or message.
Scammers are becoming more convincing every day, and I would hate to see anyone lose their hard-earned money. Please share this with friends and family who may be looking for a rental. A few minutes of verification can save thousands of dollars!
