One of so many videos showing the devastation of the firestorm that has hit Spokane, WA. I covered scenes like this as a journalist at KHQ in Spokane for over 20 years. There are no words to comfort those that have lost everything. I pray for them and the men and women trying to help put these fires out.

Colchuck Lake in the Enchantments outside Leavenworth, WA. Bucket list hike today and I got to do it with my kids, sister and her husband. It was hard, but worth it. 2400ish feet of elevation gain on rocky, rugged terrain over 9 miles out and back. Standing at 5500 feet and looking up at the peaks above the lake makes you feel pretty small. Most amazing turquoise water I’ve ever seen. Proud of my family, and myself for achieving this accomplishment.

The Iller Creek Conservation Area trail in Spokane County is a 5.2 mile hike with 1250 feet of elevation change. A shaded ascent through trees and occasional springs brings you to the ridge line that provides spectacular views of the Spokane Valley and Mt. Spokane. Listed as a moderate difficulty hike by AllTrails, it’s a must do for outdoor enthusiasts.
