She knew she was breaking the rules. She simply couldn't ignore a hungry child. 💛

For 14 years, Debbie Solsman worked in the cafeteria at Denver Place Elementary School in Wilmington, Ohio, where she became known for something that wasn't listed in her job description—making sure children left with full stomachs.

When students didn't have enough money in their lunch accounts, they still received the federally required meal. But Debbie knew the children who were given a simple cheese sandwich often felt singled out, and she hated seeing them walk into the cafeteria carrying something different from everyone else.

So whenever she could, she quietly upgraded their meal.

If a child came back and said they were still hungry, Debbie often gave them extra food. Some children told her they hadn't eaten dinner the night before, and she couldn't bring herself to turn them away.

She said: "In my heart, when that child tells me they're hungry, do I believe them or just say, 'No, you don't need any more today?' How do you determine the difference between that?"

When she didn't have enough cash with her, she wrote herself an IOU and paid for the food out of her next paycheck.

In 2017, after 14 years at the school, Debbie was fired for failing to account for food sales and for providing food without payment, including to her own grandchildren.

The story quickly spread, and many people criticized the school district.

But Debbie surprised everyone.

She openly admitted she had broken the rules and insisted the district had treated her well throughout her years there. She didn't deny what she'd done—she simply believed the punishment was too harsh.

Then she was asked a question that defined her character.

Would she do it again?

Without hesitation, Debbie answered, "Yes."

Because to her, the hardest part was never breaking a rule.

It was looking into the eyes of a hungry child and saying no.

Good things happen when good people show up.

In North Dakota, farmers are more than neighbors—they’re like family.

When Randy Fyllesvold passed away suddenly in a car crash in September 2025, his wife Kharra and their two sons were left heartbroken and unable to manage the 1,400 acres of corn and soybeans on their farm.

That’s when the community of Antler stepped in. Two of Randy’s friends, Wyatt Thompson and Andy Gates, organized a massive harvest to help. They called for volunteers, and more than 75 people from nearby towns showed up with 12 combines, 7 grain carts, and over 40 trucks, all ready to help.

The community worked together, finishing the harvest in just a couple of days. Kharra called the gesture “nothing short of breathtaking” and said it gave her peace during such a difficult time. She shared her gratitude on Facebook, saying she and her sons will never forget the love and support shown by everyone who came together to honor Randy.
