Section 8 Waiting List Open!

KHC's Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) began accepting applications for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program as of 9 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022, and will close 5 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022. The Section 8 online application will be available within the applicant rent café by creating an account; or you may call into KHC's Customer Service at 877-552-7368, extension 888 to complete by phone or you may request an application via email at [email protected] and return via email. No walk-ins or mailed applications will be accepted.

We have a one-bedroom apartment available now and encourage you to apply! The apartment is on the 3rd floor (we DO NOT have an elevator). You must earn UNDER $22,350 per year – this equal $10.75 per hour if you work a 40 hour work week with no overtime.

Our Affordable Housing programs were specifically designed to serve lower to moderate income households. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about your eligibility.

Our rents are not based on your income, but your eligibility IS based on your income. As such, there are established income limits (see flyer with income limits – they are determined by the size of your household). There are many considerations in calculating your income and assets to make sure you fit into these guidelines…and every person is different. Please feel free to give me a call and discuss your specific income calculation. There are also some restrictions for students. If you are a student, we can go over these qualifying standards together.

Our rental rates are fixed. They do not change as your income changes. Water, sewer, and trash are all included in the rental rate. Each resident is responsible for his/her own electric and gas usage and will be required to have service in their name.

This building is a non-smoking building. You cannot smoke in your apartment. Also, we do not allow pets.

The occupancy standard for these homes state that your household should not exceed 2 people per bedroom, but a household of only 1 person is equally welcome to rent a 2 bedroom home (*if you are a voucher recipient, you would need permission from the housing authority). These rates are subject to change. We do accept housing vouchers from the housing authority, but we do not offer subsidized housing. We are not HUD subsidized.

Although we do not have a leasing office in Springfield, we will be happy to coordinate a time to meet with you there. In the meantime, if you wish to apply, please complete an application and mail it to us at the address below. If there are children in the household, we also need a copy of their birth certificate.

Rent, Utility Assistance for Kentuckians Now Available!!

Kentucky's portal for COVID-19 rent and utility relief opened at 8 a.m. today. Kentuckians can now apply for assistance, dating back to April 2020.

Governor Andy Beshear announced Thursday, February 11, that Kentucky recently received $297 million in federal Coronavirus Relief Funds to help prevent evictions for renters impacted economically by COVID-19.

Funding from the U.S. Treasury was sent to three Kentucky jurisdictions – the state of Kentucky, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, and Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government. All three programs will offer the same rent assistance to approved applicants – 100 percent of past-due rent, dating back to April 2020, and up to three months of future payments.
