Be honest…when was the last time you checked the batteries in your smoke alarm?

It is recommended that homeowners change or test the batteries in their smoke alarms every six months. On this , I recommend you check or change the batteries in your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors ASAP. (And don’t forget the detectors wired to the house – they have backup batteries that require checking!)

Ready to sell your home, but you have a house full of young kiddos? It can seem overwhelming, but as a REALTOR, I’m here to help. Here’s my top tips and tricks for selling a home with younger children.
1. Make sure the kiddos are aware of what is happening. Have them meet your REALTOR, and allow them to ask questions.
2. Make your home appealing to the masses – as much fun as pink bedrooms and Noah’s Ark murals are, you’ll want to take your home as close to neutral as possible before putting it on the market.
3. Involve the kiddos in downsizing and cleaning out the toy chests. Find a charity that can use gently used toys, and have the kids select the toys to send. (At CBG we love the Ronald McDonald house!)
4. If needed, get a storage space. Having a storage locker for a few months will make it easier on moving day, and during the sale of your home.
5. Make a plan for what the family will do during showings! Let the kiddos be involved in making the plan – go to the Zoo, a park, or simply walk around Target. Make it fun for them!
