I sit in a lot of living rooms that aren't mine.

Between showings. Waiting on a lender. Reviewing paperwork before a client walks in. Sometimes I just sit for a minute and take the room in. The way the light moves across the floor. The chair someone chose. What a stranger's version of comfort looks like.

It's a small thing, but it's part of what I love about this work. Every home has a personality. Every room was decided on by someone. Every space says something about the life it was built for.

The kitchen is always the first room I walk into.

Not on purpose. It just happens. Something about a kitchen tells you what a house is really like. Where the light lands in the afternoon. Whether there's room for someone to sit and keep you company while you cook.

The best kitchens I've stood in have all had one thing in common. They felt lived in. Not staged, not showy. Just warm. Like the house was already waiting for its people.

I think about that a lot in this job. Square footage matters. Layouts matter. But the kitchen is where a family actually lives.
