🚨 What in the Arizona desert is THIS? 🤔❤️

I spotted this tiny, bright red little critter today, and it almost looks too colorful to be real!

If you’ve spent time outdoors in Tucson after a monsoon rain, you may have seen one of these crawling across sidewalks or driveways.

It’s called a Red Velvet Mite—one of the most fascinating little creatures in the Sonoran Desert. Despite their striking color, they’re harmless to people and pets. They spend most of their lives underground and usually appear after summer rains, where they help nature by feeding on insect eggs and other tiny pests.

Nature always finds a way to surprise us here in Arizona! 🌵
