Theater Lab Kids! is a tuition-based program offered to children both during and after school hours on campus. The program is designed to foster creativity and collaboration through various theatrical activities.
Classes at Theater Lab Kids! emphasize movement, collaboration, voice utilization, and creativity. Children engage in ensemble work to express emotions and participate in performances.
Each group within the program undertakes the task of creating a play. This process helps develop skills in creative writing and teamwork. The classes are instructed in two main parts: performance and behind-the-scenes.
During the performance segment, children participate in acting exercises, games, rehearsals, and learn acting techniques. This aspect focuses on honing their performance/pubiuc speaking skills.
The behind-the-scenes portion involves creative writing and story development. Additionally, children learn about other essential elements of theater production such as makeup, costume design, set design, and prop creation.
This hands-on experience provides a comprehensive understanding of what goes into staging a play.
The overarching goal of Theater Lab Kids! is to instill an appreciation for theatrical production and collaborative art.
Through Socio Emotional Learning (SEL) principles, the program emphasizes the importance of teamwork and emotional understanding in artistic endeavors.
We contract with top notch teaching artists and up and coming young actors to direct students to guide classes. All undergo background checks.
