It’s a common misconception that crawlspaces will not test high for radon gas, though they very commonly do. Radon gas, naturally accumulates in crawlspaces, because they commonly feature unsealed dirt floors. This allows the radon gas to accumulate in the crawlspace, and make its way into your home. Mitigation includes laying down plastic sheeting to cover the bar ground, and attaching pipe systems to vent radon gas away from the home. If you have not had your crawlspace tested, please give us a call. 419-480-1600

Fact Friday! The only way to know if your home, school, multi-family property, or new construction has a radon problem is to test. There is no way to predict radon levels by geographical location, use of maps, types of structure, or even results of a nearby property or any other criteria. Radon is in most soils in our area and as it travels through soil, it may find pathways to enter your property but not one nearby.

Fact Friday! Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. Smokers exposed to radon have 10x higher risk than non-smokers. Lung cancer has been known to develop as early as 5 years after exposure, and up to 25 years after exposure. Please reach out to us if you have concerns about radon!
