FYI: Newest scam. My daughter-in-law got a phone recording this morning from someone representing to be from the Jury Commission regarding her failure to appear for jury duty and to not hang up. I told him I didn't think that anyone would be calling her, but to hang up and I would check. I called the Jury Commission Office and they told me they have been bombarded with phone calls today and that it was a scam. I did have her double check to make sure she wasn't on the jury list and she was not. Just thought in case anyone else received such a call you would know to hang up. Probably wouldn't hurt to call the Jury Commission Office in the county you live in to double check. She told me that you would receive a letter from one of the judges to come in and show cause why you were there. What's the matter with people?

So as you know, we recently went on a short vacation with my youngest son, Doug, his wife Hayley and their adorable children, Heidi and Quinn. I wanted to share a couple of Heidi stories, because I, like most of you, enjoy pulling up my memories every day and reading about things the kids have said or done that I might not otherwise remember (especially in my advanced years - LOL).

One morning I walked over to Doug and Hayley's condo and Heidi greated me with "I love your shirt nana". First, it was amazingly sweet, but she's 5 and I sure wasn't expecting that. She is very adamant about dressing herself every day and 9 times out 10 you will see here in a dress. But she made her old nana feel good.

Second, we went to the pool on Good Friday. On the way out, Heidi saw these purple swim goggles. She was asking for them all the way as her parents swooshed her out the door. I winked at the lady behind the counter and told her there were going to be goggles in their Easter basket. On Easter Sunday we went back to the pool and her dad had her goggles in hand. She kept telling Doug to hide the goggles. We couldn't figure out why she was so worried about hiding the goggles. I finally told her it was okay because I told the lady on Friday that she was getting goggles in her Easter basket. At this point, she stopped dead in her tracks and stomped her feet at Doug and I. Doug asked her what she was so mad about. Her response, without missing a beat was "It's all your mudder's fault." Guess Nana was in the doghouse. We will laugh about that for a long time.

I remember being broke for Christmas one year after food shopping and paying the bills and wrote a post dated check to make sure I could provide a good Christmas for my family.I’ve lived as high and as low as it’s possible to go. There were times I’d put $10 worth of gas in my tank and other times $50. I’ve had $5 to just feed myself and I’ve also had $200 to go out to eat. I’ve had a house full of food and times I didn’t have any. I’ve been in stores cashing out with no worries and I’ve also had to add it up and put things back on the shelf. I’ve paid my bills in full and I’ve had to pay them late too. I’ve given money and I too have had to ask for it.
We all have highs and lows in life. Some certainly more than others, but we are all just trying to make it.
No one is better than anyone else and my heart is sad for those people who think that they are. No matter how big your house is, how new your car is, or how much money sits in your bank account - we all bleed red and will eventually fade from this earth. Death has no discrimination and neither should your life.
Be kind to others. We are all here to serve. Stop the power tripping. Your oversized ego won’t get you anywhere.
Be humble. And keep faith going.
Very few will actually read this far, but if you’re genuine I challenge you to copy. Most won’t, because they’re the type of people I’m talking about.
