Same post as last year, same sentiments!
All of our struggles are interconnected, and we’ve truly got nothing left except each other. (But how beautiful is that at the end of the day…)
🎶 Song is “Aquarius / Let The Sunshine In” by The 5th Dimension ☀️ My dad who taught us the art of protesting & liberation fighting would play this on his 60’s anti war mixtape CD’s and I remember when I was little I thought this song had to be the most spiritually beautiful/profound music I’d ever heard, and that hasn’t changed 🥲
Caption from Pride ‘25:
It’s really time to lock in, dare I say.
Partying without doing direct action is out.
Identity policing and hyper fixating on ourselves is out.
Pandering to corporations that do not care about us is out.
The disassociation between our liberation as qu**rs and that of all people is out.
*That means Pride inherently by definition means free Palestine, Pride means free all colonized peoples and places, Pride means all of our survival in and out of the LGBTQ+ community is connected and we need to start acting like it.*
A great way to celebrate Pride this year is by delegating where you spend your energy carefully. What I mean by this is a rainbow t-shirt from a corporation that funds war or involvement in a q***r group or space that is allowing white supremacy to happen within it is more harmful to LGBTQ+ people than doing nothing for Pride at all. Not shaming, not trying to start a discourse here, let’s all just try to get offline and start leaning into the people around us, finding the needs that need to be filled in our communities, and fully embracing how much we need each other. That’s my totally very light hearted “Happy Pride” post 🤪
P.S. I’m no expert or an experienced organizer by any means, but I do have some directions I can point you in if you’re local and are thinking “I want to do this but I literally don’t know where to start”. My inbox is open 🙂
