Being truly prepared to buy your next home requires three specific things.

First, you must have a monthly payment that you are completely comfortable making. Second, you need the cash required to cover your closing costs. Third, you need the confidence to submit an offer as soon as the right house hits the market.

Many buyers believe a massive down payment is the only key to success. In reality, solid preparation is much more valuable than a huge pile of cash.

Take the time to understand your exact budget and get your financing in order before you begin touring houses.
