25 years.
It’s hard to comprehend that a quarter of a century has passed since a morning that changed all of us.
For those who remember September 11, 2001, we remember exactly how it felt. The shock. The fear. The heartbreak. The images we could hardly believe were real.💔
But we also remember what came after.
We remember the heroes who ran toward danger when every instinct said to run away.
We remember the strangers who helped strangers.
We remember the families who waited for phone calls that never came.😭
We remember the nearly 3,000 lives that were taken far too soon.
And we remember a country that, in the middle of unimaginable grief, somehow felt closer together.
Twenty-five years later, there are young adults who weren't even alive that day. That makes remembering - and telling the stories of the people we lost - even more important.
May we never become so far removed from that day that we forget how precious an ordinary morning really is.
Today, we remember the lives. We honor the heroes. We hold their families in our hearts.
And 25 years later, we still promise:
We will never forget. 🇺🇸
