What’s a homestead exemption? It’s a property tax reduction that could save you money by lowering the assessed value of your home. Once approved, it’s automatically renewed each year you continually occupy the home under the same ownership.⁠

The home must be your legal residence for all purposes, and you cannot file for homestead exemption on rental property, vacant land or on more than one property.⁠
