The California Association of Realtors October, 2022 report has been released, and there are several relevant data points that could help guide buyers who may be waiting for the right time to enter the market. Among those are as follows:

• Unsold inventory is increasing as demand is pulling back
• Supply remains tight as fewer new listings are hitting the market
• Significant growth in price reductions for unsold inventory

This data suggests that sellers are tentative to list their house in this market, and those that do have homes listed are much more likely to make concessions to sell. The question is, how long will this trend continue until all the buyers who have been held out of the market come rushing back?

Buyers who enter the market now will reap the benefits of reduced competition and put themselves in a position to secure a home at a relatively low price in addition to seller concessions.
