When I first moved to DC in 2008, I was amazed at how totally undeveloped all of the city's awesome waterfront property was. I love what's happened at Navy Yard (and still can't believe how quickly it all happened!), and am so thrilled to see what's coming for SW!

The new images of the pier reveal how much of a draw the pier will be for the Southwest Waterfront redevelopment.

SO EXCITED that the incredibly talented Aaron Silverman is playing in the fast-casual pool too! I love me some Rose's Luxury, but it'll be SO great to be able to enjoy his delicious fare on a regular basis rather than just on special occasions.

The take-away cafe from chef Aaron Silverman will offer espresso drinks, drip coffee, pastries and breakfast sandwiches.

Yet another reason why I believe that - real-estate-wise - NE DC is the most exciting quadrant in town, and will be for the next few years.

"The 11-story, 178-room hotel on the boards for 411 New York Avenue NE (map) is being developed by D.B. Lee Development and Brook Rose Development. The hotel will house nine individual artist spaces on the first and second floors, and there will be a 2,000 square foot art gallery on the second level as well. There will also be a restaurant located over the hotel lobby, another restaurant on the hotel’s 11th floor, and a rooftop with a lounge, pool, and bar."

The Jazz and Cultural Society is co-run by a musician and a lifelong jazz fan. It's D.C.'s newest—and possibly most authentic—straight-ahead jazz venue.
