Loree Grand Tenant's Association

Loree Grand Tenant's Association A venue created about 2010 when the management company at the time wasn't exactly doing right by their tenants.

It was various issues generally a new "hot topic" daily for tenants as the property was managed and operated as though it were a fiefdom.

I strongly recommend this article for anyone who doesn't understand the the difference between rich and poor and how costly or not influence of public officials truly is, and how it comes to be.

America's wealth gap makes it trivial for billionaires to cover whoever's bills they want.

Katelyn Hiller, Can you please discuss with management the dangers and legal aspects of dogs being off leashes. Historically, it has been a supported but unenforced policy. It is now become commonplace for people in the surrounding neighborhoods to bring their dogs (off-leash) to run on the property (recently sold by the tax court) surrounding the Loree Grand. Two cases specifically are; (1). The owner of Metro Mutts bringing his and his wife's two dogs here to run loose. and, (2). A neighbor a 30's (maybe) black gentleman who has a very large black pit bull.

I'm terrified of Pit Bulls and this dog ran towards and jumped on me the other day when I was walking my two dogs. As most everyone knows I keep mine on leashes to comply with building policy, the law of the city, and fulfill my obligations to both and to accept responsibility and accountability for my loved canine family members. Ceylie, has an anxiety about some dogs and he generally has a bouncing and barking fit when he sees others. I was so afraid I was going to be mauled or my dogs were going to either be seriously injured or killed by this huge dog. I have come to learn, that my concern is not the only one but mine is the only one that is left disregarded even after being communicated through legal counsel.

Would you please, on behalf of all tenants, work with management in enforcing the leash polices of our lease and the laws of our city. I believe all us tenants would benefit from a letter from management denouncing pets off leashes and outlining steps which will be taken for violations and repeated violations to include monetary penalties (I would suggest a first offense penalty be $50-$100). I know this matter is one of public safety for that of both the owner and the pet. It serves everyone and our pets better than well.

I appreciate all your kind efforts in this matter.

Affordable housing in the news.

When discussing housing affordability, there are 2 groups of advocates who are constantly talking past each other. Affordable housing groups do not engage with the economic arguments for building more housing, while proponents of expanding the housing supply don't spend enough time thinking about ho...

What is the status of the other candidates for the Tenant's Association? I haven't heard from nor seen any campaign literature. Its coming close to close of the campaigning period.

03/26/2012

The identified candidates for Loree Grand Tenant's Association are as follows:

President: Amelia Kinter, Daniel Quinones
Vice President: Kate Hiller
Secretary: OPEN
Treasurer: OPEN

1. In addition to these announcements please talk with your Loree Grand neighbors and encourage them to run for one officer positions. The competition will make it all the more worthwhile. These are not laborious nor time consuming responsibilities, and the few minutes monthly that you'll spend is certain to have worthwhile benefit to your neighbor, your community and will put in place a system of checks and balances of any present and future management company. It also provides for a stronger sense of validity for any present and future L&T matters that require judicial review.

2. The nomination deadline is extended until April 1, 2012.

3. It is suggested that ALL candidates devise their own strategies in a campaign period of April 1-15, 2012. (A potential good place to launch your campaign would be in the LG Business Center or Zuppa Fresca). Your campaigns should include your posting of flyers on the bulletin boards, under doors, and in any other way provided under the Tenant's Right to Organize Act of The District of Columbia (a.k.a. TRO Act). Property management is required by law to comply with your campaigning needs.

Best of successes everyone and thank you for your interests in making the Loree Grand a more enjoyable and equal place for all us to live.
