While I believe a nationwide agency disclosure is a great idea, and I believe that every agent should have a written buyer agency agreement in place before showing anyone a property, I do not believe that removing the coop commission from the MLS is a good idea. It hurts all buyers, especially first time buyers and it will force many buyers into a dual agency situation. It’s like we’re going back to the 1980’s because of NARs “solution”.
What’s worse is that Maryland has great buyer agency protections and NAR could have looked to what already works, but instead they are making a horrible move because of a few bad eggs.
