Landscape Specialist
Landscape specialists (LS) are responsible for many different projects related to planning, planting and caring for our customers’ outdoor environments. They may begin a project by clearing away shrubs, small trees and anything else that may obstruct work. Occasional skid use will be needed to grade jobs, so skid steer experience is required. General grading should be able to be completed by the LS. LS may then use a tiller or similar device to loosen up the soil and prepare it for planting seeds or laying sod. While doing so, LS may also record measurements of the prepared area in order to assist with how much product will be needed to complete a project. Precise attention to detail is required. Lastly, specialists may transplant bushes or trees into the ground, lay decorative landscape stone or mulch, heavy lifting of over 50+lb may also be needed.
Landscape specialists may also visit sites to perform regular maintenance, such as removing w**ds and applying pesticides. A pesticide license is not required, but is preferred. Otherwise if needed, willingness to perform duties in order to obtain a license is appreciated. General 0 turn lawnmowing experience is required. The knowledge and use of leaf blowers, chain saws, pole saws, w**d eaters, chippers, and hedge trimmers will be needed to perform proper clean ups. In addition to these duties, landscape specialists may be required to rake leaves, clear debris and prune plants.
This position will work closely with the Company Owner as well as crew members. The ideal candidate will be able to work under the supervision of Company Owner, as well as be left on the job to complete the projects or clean-ups and keep the crews moving. One thing that absolutely must be on the list, though, has to do with safety. The landscape maintenance technician must practice proper crew safety, including the safe and proper use of equipment and tools as assigned to him or her as well as making sure proper safety equipment is worn by everyone at necessary times. A valid drivers license is required as LS will be operating Company vehicles to and from job sites. Experience pulling a trailer is preferred.
