Got another lawn taken care of this week.
A lot of what makes a yard look good isn’t just mowing — it’s the edging along the sidewalks, trimming around beds and fences, and making sure everything is cleaned up before leaving.
Spring is starting to show up around Bay St. Louis and Waveland, so lawns won’t stay quiet for long.
If you need weekly or bi-weekly mowing this season, feel free to reach out for an estimate.

Why Do Weeds Keep Coming Back in Cracks?
Spraying w**ds in driveways only kills what you see.
Most cracks are filled with:
• Sand
• Organic debris
• Dust
That becomes soil.
Seeds land, germinate, and grow.
Permanent prevention usually requires:
• Cleaning out cracks
• Applying a pre-emergent
• Occasional spot treatment
Weeds don’t mean you’re doing something wrong.
They mean nature is doing what nature does.

Why Scalping Your Lawn Is a Bad Idea

Gulf Coast Lawn Tip – Stop Scalping Your St. Augustine
One of the biggest mistakes we see every spring is cutting St. Augustine way too short.
Shorter does NOT mean less mowing.
Scalping your lawn:
• Weakens root systems
• Increases w**d pressure
• Causes brown patches
• Makes it more vulnerable to drought
St. Augustine likes to be cut higher — usually around 3.5–4 inches.
When you keep it at the right height, it shades the soil and naturally helps prevent w**ds.
Healthy lawns aren’t short.
They’re thick.

How Much Should You Water in South Mississippi?

More people overwater than underwater.
General rule:

Lawns need about 1 inch of water per week.

Watering lightly every day actually weakens roots.
Deep, infrequent watering:
• Encourages deeper root growth
• Improves drought tolerance
• Reduces fungus risk

If your lawn feels soft and spongy constantly, you’re probably watering too much.

Why Does My Lawn Stay Wet After Rain?

Heavy Gulf Coast soil compacts easily.
When soil compacts:
• Roots struggle to grow
• Water doesn’t drain well
• Grass thins out

Aeration can help relieve compaction and allow oxygen, water, and nutrients to pe*****te deeper.
Healthy soil = healthy lawn.
