Realtors® are bound by the Code of Ethics to put their clients best interest before their own. That being said, I still think it is best for the seller and buyer to have their own agents. It isn't just because of the money. If one agent is working for both the seller and the buyer, that agent technically cannot do anything to harm either party. That also means they can't do anything to help either party as helping one could harm the other. When you are selling or purchasing such a large asset and significant part of your life, you want someone that is completely on your side.
