Small acts of kindness can start a powerful wave of change some.
RAISING MONEY WITH PHOTOS: A local firefighter, photographer and videographer will donate an entire day of photography sessions on Saturday, Sept. 5, to raise money for the Hernando County family of a fellow firefighter whose daughter, Josie, is battling leukemia.
Fly Media will host the donation-based mini sessions from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Aripeka Sandhills Preserve, located at 18000 Aripeka Road. Each 15-minute session will include five professionally edited photographs, with all proceeds donated to Josie’s family.
There is no set price for the sessions. Participants may donate whatever amount they can afford. Those who do not want a photography session may also contribute directly to the family.
Josie, who is not yet 2 years old, was recently diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, commonly known as B-ALL. Her diagnosis has suddenly changed life for her parents, Billy and Beccah.
Billy is a firefighter, while Beccah is a nurse. Both have dedicated their careers to helping others during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Now, another first responder is calling on the community to support a family that has spent its life caring for others.
“When one of our own needs help, we come together,” Fly Media wrote while announcing the fundraiser.
As Josie begins treatment, the Hernando County family faces hospital stays, appointments, missed work, travel costs, meals away from home and other unexpected expenses. Regular household obligations, including mortgage payments, utilities and vehicle expenses, will also continue.
Organizers hope the fundraiser will ease some of the family’s financial burden and allow Billy and Beccah to focus on Josie and her treatment.
Community members who cannot donate are encouraged to share information about the fundraiser and keep Josie and her family in their thoughts and prayers.
