For Villa Altamira in Flamingo, Costa Rica, the renderings show how the home begins to open itself up to the landscape with expansive glass, layered terraces, warm wood tones, and indoor-outdoor spaces made for sunset views.

Every detail is about creating a home that feels connected to where it is: open, intentional, and surrounded by the natural beauty of Costa Rica.

A designer sees scale, symmetry, light, and the way a space is going to feel long before it’s finished.

Some of the most important design decisions happen in moments like this, studying the angles, documenting the details, and making sure every line works together before the walls even go up.

Lighting is one of the details that can completely change how a home feels. It adds warmth, creates dimension, highlights architectural details, & helps each space feel more intentional. Before furniture, styling, or final layers are added, lighting already begins to define the mood of the home.

The right fixture does more than brighten a room. It gives the space shape, character, & a sense of completion.

Working with skilled electricians like makes all the difference. Thoughtful lighting only works when the ex*****on behind it is just as strong.

Some projects start with the view.

Excited to officially share a new project in Flamingo, Costa Rica: Altamira.

Named after the Spanish words meaning “high view” or “high perspective,” this home is being thoughtfully designed around maximizing the view from every possible angle. From the layout and flow to the overall experience of the space, every decision begins with the landscape and sunsets that surround it.

Looking forward to sharing more as the plans, renderings, and design process continue to come to life.

Life as a designer is equal parts vision & problem solving.

One hour is spent reviewing floor plans and cabinet elevations. The next is walking a framing site, checking measurements, reviewing materials, adjusting layouts, and making hundreds of small decisions that shape how a home will eventually feel.

The details always matter, even in the unfinished stages.

The arches throughout this home bring depth, movement, and architectural interest from one space to the next.

From the wet bar to the breakfast nook and the arched transition between the kitchen and entryway, each rounded opening helps create a more natural flow while making the home feel custom, intentional, and considered.

It’s a subtle design detail, but one that ties the entire home together.
