Holiday decor is in the air. Thought I would knock out a pom-pom wreath. I lost the will to live 15 minuets into it.
The pom-pom maker could double as a torture device. Even YouTube couldn't make sense of it. My first attempt eeked out a rather anemic poof...didn't use enough yarn. My 20 year old Fiskars were duller than my freshman Western Civ. class at Drake University. Neither one were cutting it.
The next 2 hours produced 6 semi-perfect poms. I also caught up on The Young And The Restless
(Is Victor really losing it? Nah). Also had to break out my smaller sharper scissors, reserved up until now to only trim my bangs.
Here's the math breakdown. Math is really not my thing either...if I had to take that at college, I'd still be there trying to pass it.
OK...60ish pom-poms needed for a 16" wreath. I used 230 yards for 6 pom-poms, that's approximately 3,250 yards per wreath. I used baby- fine yarn...Big Mistake! Moving at my usual Young And Restless pace = 13 hours (does not include assembly time). Then there's the yarn cost. Mine was $6 a skein, many skeins. 78 bucks later all I had was a mess on the floor. I'm pretty sure for $24.99 there's a very merry holiday wreath for me at TJ Maxx!
Crafting should come with a warning label-it does have a dark side sometimes! The things we do to make our homes a winter wonderland...
