My fellow volunteers with the Independent Seniors Network recently came together to assemble “go bags” for our senior members.
These bags are filled with essential items our seniors can grab quickly in case of an emergency. This is just one of the many ways our volunteers work to keep our members safe, supported, and independent.
If you haven’t heard of the Independent Seniors Network (ISN) before, it’s a local nonprofit serving the Greater Portland area that helps seniors age in place and stay comfortable at home longer without needing to move to assisted living.
Our volunteers provide:
🚗 Rides to doctor’s appointments, grocery stores, and errands
🧺 Light household chores and help around the home
📞 Friendly phone calls and check-ins for seniors who may feel isolated or alone
This kind of connection truly makes a difference. Community and companionship are some of the best ways to help our seniors thrive.
If you know someone who might want to become a member or if you’d like to volunteer to lend a helping hand, please visit the ISN website for more information.
Together, we can keep our senior community connected, cared for, and independent. 💛
