Check your basements. We had a lot of heavy rain last night.

I noticed a different odor this morning and quickly checked downstairs. I haven’t had this much water in my basement in 3–4 years.

My gutters and downspouts are good…it was simply the amount and heaviness of the rain. This is exactly why everything is up off the ground.

Today, we remember and honor the women and men who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It’s a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy came at a cost paid by others and their families.

As you spend time with loved ones, enjoy a cookout, or simply take a moment to slow down, consider pausing to reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Grateful. Remembering. Never forgotten. ❤️🤍💙

These white patches are fungal mycelium…the underground network that helps break down organic matter and return nutrients to the soil. In other words, nature is doing exactly what nature is supposed to do.

After all the rain we’ve had lately, it’s pretty common to see this pop up in mulch beds.

Homeownership and gardening often come down to observation. The more you pay attention, the more you learn what’s normal, what’s helpful, and what actually needs attention.

🌱 Sometimes the weird stuff is the good stuff.

It’s that time of year again… and as someone who genuinely loves living things (including bugs), it took me a while to come to terms with removing spotted lanternflies when I see them. The nymphs are out right now, and while they may look small, they can cause major damage to trees, plants, gardens, and crops by feeding on sap and weakening the plants over time.

➡️ They also leave behind a sticky residue that can lead to mold growth and additional damage to surrounding vegetation.

Protecting our trees and local ecosystem matters too. Sometimes caring for nature means making difficult choices to help prevent larger damage later on. 🌳

What I love most about the South Side?

The people. It’s welcoming, friendly, and real. You don’t have to pretend to be anyone but yourself and that’s something truly incredible. ☀️💚☮️

Meet my friend Carson. You might spot him riding his bike right down the middle of the street (classic Carson!), but did you know he’s also a talented singer-songwriter? 🎶 He does pop-up performances throughout the neighborhood and they’re always a vibe.

Want to hear him play? DM me and I’ll let you know the next time he pops up! 🎤
