It’s a great time to celebrate Deaf culture, recognize the importance of ASL and accessibility, and continue building better access to information and services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

ASL Minute | Did You Know?

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), title companies and settlement companies are required to provide effective communication for Deaf and hard-of-hearing consumers.

For something as important and document-heavy as a real estate closing, that may mean providing a qualified ASL interpreter so the buyer can fully understand the documents and the process.

Most importantly, the cost of that accommodation cannot be passed on to the Deaf consumer. Providing equal access is the responsibility of the service provider, not the client requesting it.

Why We Teach This
Because accessibility isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s the law.

This is exactly why we teach accessibility alongside homebuying education. The right team should understand both.
