I found this key while cleaning out old paperwork.
At first glance, it looks like nothing more than an old lockbox key taped inside a worn envelope. But when I opened it, I saw the words I had written years ago:
"Please find me a family."
And suddenly, I was taken back to one of the most meaningful sales of my career.

This wasn't just a house. It was a home that a husband had built with his own hands. A place where an older couple had spent over 30 years of their lives creating memories, celebrating holidays, and building a life together.

By the time I met them, they were in their 80s and preparing to move into assisted living near their children. The children wanted nothing to do with the property. The home sat in the shadow of uncertainty surrounding the Klamath Dam Removal Project, and many people predicted declining values and a difficult future for the area.

The property stayed on the market for 571 days.
Five hundred and seventy-one days of showings, questions, concerns, setbacks, and price adjustments.

There were moments when it would have been easy to give up.
But every time I unlocked that door, I reminded myself that this wasn't about selling a structure. It was about helping two people close a chapter of their lives with dignity and peace.

So I waited.
I marketed.
I adjusted.
