1st study. In Matthew 16:18 Jesus told Peter That upon this rock (Peter) I'll build my church & the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. In verse 19, Jesus gave Peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven & told Peter that whatsoever he bound on earth will be bound in heaven & whatsoever he loosed on earth will be loosed in heaven. The 1st gospel message ever preached after the crucifixion was where Peter bound & loosed Acts 2:38-39 & he told all to repent & be baptized, every one of you: in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins & ye shall receive the gift of the holy ghost.
