Did you know some mums are perennial?

Look for garden or hardy mums! My Pop-Po (grandfather) loved mums and had them planted all around his home. I remember how beautiful they looked each fall, and now I have them in my own front flower bed. They come back every year, adding a cheerful pop of color to the season 🍁.

In my September newsletter, I shared that our local Fresh Thyme grocery store has perennial mums for just $6.99, with lots of color varieties to choose from!

Planting tip: they’ll grow bigger each year, so give them a little space to spread.

Day 8 - Corner Cabinet

I am not a fan of corner cabinets and their hidden depths. Mine has become a "catch-all cabinet". I can never remember exactly what I have in it.

I removed everything, sorted into categories and placed several items into the donate pile. I added a lazy susan & a couple of bins to hold smaller items, and put everything back in with the frequently used items on the bottom shelf.

Day 7 - Spice Cabinet

I've had some fun opportunities keep me busy this month! I've kept up with my 30-in-30 tasks for the most part, but have not had the extra time to post the before and afters. Hopefully I will get to share all of them before the end of the month.

Although not really disorganized (so no before photo), my spice cabinet is on my 30-in-30 list every year. For me, it’s a great time to check what needs to be re-ordered after the Holidays. (Note to self, add mustard powder and vanilla to my next Thrive order!)

The slide outs fit perfectly in my narrow cabinet and make it easy to find what I am looking for. I like organizing my spices by use - Italian seasonings on one slide, sweet spices on another, etc.

Day 5 of my 30-in-30 challenge
This is the medical supplies/catch-all top shelf in my linen closet (and not the easiest space to photograph!).

This tall area had a lot of unused vertical space. Adding a riser created a bonus “shelf,” making it much more functional.

✨ The biggest game-changer? Consolidating all the smaller boxes of band-aids and similar items into one clear storage container. This reduced the clutter of five smaller boxes, saved space, and keeps everything in one place.

💡 The key to 30-in-30 organizing:
Clear out expired, unused, and out-of-place items. No system will work if there’s too much stuff for the space.

My daughter mentioned that Day 1 & 2 of my 30-in-30 tasks didn’t look like I had organized anything...
and then offered up her house for more dramatic before and afters photos. 😆

Remember, these 30 tasks don’t have to be a dramatic change. The goal is to organize spots that cause you any type of stress.

Today I tackled the 3rd shelf in my linen closet that is supposed to be home for extra hair and face care products. Over the last month it has been a bit of a dumping spot for purchases, gifts, and seldom used products that got pulled out for the holiday parties.

For Day 2 of my 30-in-30 challenge I reorganized the top shelf in my cups and mugs cabinet. This shelf had been driving me crazy and I knew there were several things I do longer used. But because I needed a step stool to reach, I had avoided.

Day 1 of the my 30-in-30 challenge. Although it may not look like a big change, it is a spot I try to empty and organize a few times a year. Since the drawer is prime real estate, I want to make sure the items in the drawer are useful.
