Real estate transactions to increase in Q4

The domestic real estate market in the fourth quarter of this year is forecast to see the strongest increase in transactions in the year, higher than the transaction volume in the same period of 2017

Nguyen Van Dinh, deputy chairman of the Vietnam Real Estate Brokerage Association, made the prediction at the association’s press conference on reviewing real estate transactions in the domestic market in the third quarter of this year in Hanoi on October 11.

In the last quarter of this year, the domestic real estate market would receive many new products from real estate development projects nationwide. Prices of property products would increase slightly by 0.5 – 1 per cent compared to the third quarter, said Dinh.

In the fourth quarter, the market will continue to see diversification in the kinds of property products on offer, according to Dinh. Demand for housing and investment in the real estate sector will continue to see growth because the economy is expected to remain stable.

Meanwhile, foreign direct investment (FDI) may continue to flow to Vietnam as investors are tending to withdraw from the Chinese market due to concerns over the US-China trade war, according to the association.

The last quarter also marks the moment when Vietnam will receive the largest amount of remittance for the year in comparison with other channels such as securities, gold and foreign currencies. The real estate sector is considered a potential channel to attract this investment.

The domestic real estate market in the fourth quarter of this year is forecast to see the strongest increase in transactions in the year, higher than the transaction volume in the same period of 2017.

Vietnam fastest growing ASEAN economy: SCB

Standard Chartered Bank continues to expect Viet Nam’s robust GDP growth of 7 per cent in 2018, driven by strong FDI-supported electronics manufacturing and rising consumption.

Chidu Narayanan, Economist, Asia, Standard Chartered Bank, said: “Viet Nam expanded 7.1 per cent in first half of the year, moderating mildly in the second quarter after a record 7.4 per cent growth year-on-year in the first quarter, in line with our forecast. This is the first year since the global financial crisis that the second quarter growth has been slower than the first one; we believe this is a sign of a focus on sustainable growth over the medium term. We expect the second half of the year growth to remain robust, albeit mildly slower than in the first six months of the year.”

“Viet Nam is likely to remain the fastest-growing ASEAN economy in 2018 and 2019, as in 2017. We remain positive on Viet Nam’s medium term growth on strong manufacturing activity, as FDI inflows to electronics manufacturing remain strong.”

Standard Chartered Bank continues to expect Viet Nam’s robust GDP growth of 7 per cent in 2018, driven by strong FDI-supported electronics manufacturing and rising consumption.
