September is one of the most enjoyable months to experience Cyprus. The long, sunny days and warm Mediterranean sea keep the feeling of summer alive, while the slightly cooler evenings make it perfect for dining outdoors, walking along the coast and exploring the island’s historic towns and mountain villages. With the peak summer rush beginning to ease, life takes on a more relaxed rhythm - but the cultural calendar certainly doesn’t slow down.
September 2026 has been particularly lively, with opera, concerts, theatre, cinema and traditional festivals taking place across the island. The month opened with the Pafos Aphrodite Festival, where Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore was performed beside Paphos Medieval Castle by the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre together with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. Music continues throughout the month, from major Greek and international artists to classical and operatic performances, including an Opera Night by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra on 25 September.
There is plenty happening beyond the concert halls too. Nicosia hosts street festivals and cultural events, while villages celebrate Cypriot food, agriculture and traditional life. The Cyprus International Film Festival runs in Nicosia from 21–25 September, and towards the end of the month Limassol welcomes one of the island's best-known traditions, the Limassol W**e Festival, beginning on 26 September.
It all makes September a wonderful combination: beach in the morning, sightseeing in the afternoon, dinner outdoors and perhaps an opera, concert or festival under the stars in the evening. Cyprus still feels like summer - just a little calmer, more comfortable and wonderfully alive.
