The (Fort Myers) Downtown Property Owners Association Inc. - est. 1986 - is a non-profit organization representing the stakeholders and associated / interested parties in the historic Downtown Fort Myers River District / Florida. Our goal is to increase the information for, and influence of all Downtown Property owners and stakeholders, in all matters regarding the current and future development o

f Downtown Fort Myers. Meetings are being held on each 2nd Thursday of the month, from 8am to 9am. Locations and the monthly featured speaker will be announced each month in advance.

Our historic Downtown Fort Myers took a beating, but our buildings are still here and we will be back open all across downtown soon! However, our downtown marinas took devastating damage. Same as our neighbors on the barrier islands and on the beach - it will be a long time until we are back to a new normal

A proposed ordinance would allow a developer to build a new residential building that would be taller and then hang over an existing building, next door.

After one year on the job he is liking what he is seeing, but there still is a lot of work to be done to keep up with our growth and development. Great (and long awaited) news for Downtown FM, going East: Second/Seaboard streets will be converted to two-way during the week of June 6-10 and First Street/Palm Beach Blvd will be converted to two-way the week of June 13-17. Details are on the website. (www.CFM2way.com) There is also a video to show motorists the new traffic pattern once the roads are converted.

Great monthly meeting this morning with Rebekah Barney, who discussed her new lux project The Irving, set to open in 2024; and Bob Megazzini, GM The Luminary, who discussed the new amphitheater set to open later this month. Special thank you to Bob for hosting the meeting in “The Workshop” and Peter’s Ice Cream and Coffee for supplying delicious breakfast treats. Did you know that the new FEMA flood maps - that will take effect in 2023 - will put most downtown properties in a higher or much higher flood risk category? Flood Insurance premiums will most likely skyrocket for all affected properties, especially if you carry a mortgage. We have a plan to address this issue for our members.
