✅✅✅ There might not be anything that hits quite like the beach, but I dare say that a cute little cabin on a super private lake can be just as good with less time traveling and less to worry about. Here, we combine slow recharging on a big porch with modern amenities and space for just you and your family to reconnect. Give it a try and see how you like the change of pace. ❤️

This makes my heart happy. 😊 A few years ago, I planted this gorgeous heirloom rose for myself-a David Austin and the variety is Lady of Shallot if anyone is wondering. Then about a month ago I had the wonderful idea to add something similar to the cabin as well. The wood post are practically begging for a climbing rose and I know it will look so, so beautiful. I went with the variety called “The Generous Gardener” there and got it planted a few days ago. Here’s to making a beautiful space even more gorgeous.

We have 10 😳 In a last post, I shared how shocking it was that we had a mama duck sitting on 20 fertilized eggs. My ducks had never gone broody before and I would never have guessed that number for a first-time nest. The actual hatching was spread out over several days, and there were a few losses(not enough to account for all the eggs though-I suspect there was a predator taking some that we never saw signs of) but once mama had nine ducklings they wanted to get out of the nest a bit, and one good egg was still in there with a little duckling moving around inside. We broke out the incubator. This little guy started hatching on day 3 of being in the incubator, and we had the privilege of watching him hatch right into our hands. He is healthy and adorable and mama duck still accepted him back. ❤️ Now for the plot twist: I have a SECOND broody duck with 18 eggs! Those probably have a week left but they are all still developing too. I’m thinking of putting about half of these next eggs into the incubator to mitigate predator risk after what happened with the first nest. What do you think?

It finally happened! It’s common for us to have 2 families(or MAYBE 3). These are the first babies of the season. It’s very common to see them in the cabin yard making thier rounds.

We’ve got over 200 reviews now. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but some of the best notes are in our guest book. 2 pretty common reasons that people come into the are or to the cabin are (1) for fishing, and (2) for the Civil war sites that are nearby. If a private lake with bass, sunfish, and catfish is your jam, or whether you love that period of history, we’d love to host you this summer.
