🚧 CDA Moves Ahead with Rs. 1.4 Billion Kashmir Chowk Underpass
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has opened technical bids for a proposed Rs. 1.4 billion underpass at Kashmir Chowk (Dhokri Chowk), Murree Road, near Islamabad Club.
📍 Proposed Traffic Plan:
• Serena side → Rawalpindi traffic will use the underpass
• Murree-bound traffic will pass over the top slab
• The project aims to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow at this busy intersection.
🔹 Current Status:
Technical bids from two firms have been opened. One bidder, Kundi Group, was declared non-responsive and has filed a grievance with CDA. Until the complaint is decided, the financial bids cannot be opened. Officials expect the matter to be resolved within around 15 days.
CDA is also working on plans for another underpass at the Faisal Avenue–Margalla Road junction as part of its wider efforts to improve Islamabad’s road infrastructure and traffic management.
📌 Note: The project is still in the procurement stage; construction has not formally started yet.
