There are a lot of ways to support our local heroes, and sometimes it starts in unexpected places… like the racetrack. 🏁

We had an incredible time at Lakes Area Heroes Night at Bemidji Speedway alongside Josh Cairns and the Thrivent team, helping introduce more of the Bemidji community to the mission of Lakes Area Heroes.

Race fans filled goodie bags that will be delivered to local first responders, voted to treat a department to a complimentary dinner courtesy of Thrivent, and showed just how powerful a community can be when it comes together to give back.

As a special full-circle moment, we even connected with firefighters who responded to the Flanders Fire.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped us continue returning the favor. ❤️

This is our why.

Joe's story is a reminder that behind every uniform is a person, a family, and a life that can be changed in an instant.

The firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS professionals, dispatchers, and corrections officers in our communities spend their lives showing up for others. When they find themselves facing challenges of their own, we believe they deserve the same support they've given so many others.

We're grateful Lakes Area Heroes was able to support Joe during one of the most difficult seasons of his life, and we're honored to continue serving local first responders when they need it most.

Serving those who serve isn't just our mission.

It's the reason we exist.

Many people know the name Lakes Area Heroes, but not everyone knows exactly what we do.

Lakes Area Heroes exists to support local firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, corrections staff, and their families throughout Crow Wing, Cass, Aitkin, and Morrison Counties.

Through community events, partnerships, outreach, and fundraising efforts, we're committed to returning the favor to the people who spend their lives serving others.

Because when our local heroes need support, we're here to show up for them the same way they show up for us. ❤️🤍💙

Over the past couple of weeks, we've witnessed the very best of our community.

As the Flanders Fire unfolded, firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, pilots, equipment operators, volunteers, local businesses, and community members came together to support one another in remarkable ways.

Meals were delivered. Supplies were gathered. Long hours were worked. People stepped in wherever they were needed and asked how they could help.

There are far too many businesses, organizations, and individuals to thank by name, but every donation, meal, supply run, and act of support made a difference.

To everyone who gave their time, resources, skills, or support: thank you.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a reminder that freedom comes at a cost. Behind every sacrifice is a family, a story, and a legacy that deserves to be remembered.

May we never take their courage, their service, or their sacrifice for granted.

We are grateful for those who gave everything and for the families who continue to carry their memory forward.

We remember. We honor. We are grateful. ❤️🤍💙

Most retired emergency vehicles have already answered their last call.

This one is just getting started.

The Return the Favor Fleet is a mobile symbol of gratitude. A retired emergency vehicle given a new purpose: honoring the people who show up for our communities every day.

You'll see it at local departments, community events, schools, parades, and throughout the Lakes Area, helping spread awareness, encourage nominations, and remind our heroes that their service does not go unnoticed.

Because appreciation shouldn't be reserved for emergencies.

This is just the beginning of a bigger vision to recognize, support, and give back to those who spend their lives serving others.
