Real estate is a difficult industry. As a Realtor we are held to a high standard and we may be helping clients through difficult times of their own. Much of what we do goes unsung and that’s ok, but I hope and pray we all support our fellow Realtors, remember we’re all human, and always do the best for our clients in whatever form that may be 🖤
I recently came across a post in a real estate group that stopped my scroll - the heartbreaking loss of an agent who took their own life... Sure, it may not have just been 'the job'—there were likely other personal struggles involved—but it was a powerful reminder of the silent weight so many in this industry carry every single day. I’m sharing this to shine a light on a conversation we don’t have often enough.
We forget sometimes—behind the sold signs, the polished marketing, the smiling photos—there are real people navigating real pressure. What you see on social media is just the highlight reel.
Real estate can be beautiful, fulfilling, and purpose-driven. It can also be isolating, exhausting, and emotionally heavy in ways that most people outside the industry will never fully understand.
But we don’t often talk about that part.
Maybe it’s fear.
Maybe it’s pride.
Maybe it’s the pressure to be "ON" 24/7.
But here’s what doesn’t make the Instagram grid:
1️⃣ The number of times someone says, “We’re so excited to work with you!”—only to choose another agent simply because they offered to do it “cheaper.” It’s not about the commission—it’s about the relationship you thought you had built.
2️⃣ The energy, time, and money we invest into every single listing—professional photography, staging, custom marketing, print ads, open houses—only to watch some homes sit far longer than expected. Not because they’re lacking, but because the market shifted in ways none of us could predict.
3️⃣ Helping someone find their dream waterfront home… only to watch it get torn apart by a hurricane months later. It’s no one’s fault, but somehow we still carry the guilt, as if we could have protected it.
4️⃣ The emotional weight we carry while helping people through some of the hardest chapters of their lives—navigating divorce, sudden loss, moving aging parents under pressure, or helping adult children sell a family home from miles away.
We absorb those emotions quietly—because our goal is to guide them through it. In those moments, we’re not just agents, we’re problem solvers, emotional anchors—steady hands in the middle of the storm.
And through it all, we keep showing up.
To the clients who trust us, refer us, check in, and remind us why we do this—you are the reason we keep going. 🖤
To the agents carrying silent weight: I see you. 🖤
And to anyone who’s ever said we’re “just salespeople”—please know, it’s so much more than that.
