I was just listening to a podcast that said action is an antidote for anxiety. It struck me and made me think about being a father of two boys that play(ed) baseball at the Division 1 level. Although I played Division 1 sports as well, I was able to take action and step on the court. But for me now, the anxiety is off the charts when they’re pitching because there’s nothing I can do about it. I’m not the one stepping on the mound.
But I think that’s so true in so many areas of life. So much of what we deal with is in our head. We think, we overthink, and then we get anxious instead of taking action. The more we move, the more we do the things we know we need to do in our marriage, as parents, in our health, and in our business, the more that anxiety begins to fade.
When we’re in motion, when we’re courageous, when we’re moving toward action instead of away from it, we start to move away from anxiety.
My encouragement to you is to look at where the anxiety shows up in your life. In that area, is there action you could take, any step forward, that might help ease that anxiety?
