Rural properties can be some of the most peaceful and rewarding places to call home… but they also come with a few things buyers may not be familiar with if they’ve only lived in town. 🏡🌾
Things like septic systems, wells, propane, easements, internet availability, drainage, gravel roads, and even wildlife are all important to understand before buying rural property.
That doesn’t mean rural living is complicated — honestly, many people end up loving the privacy, space, slower pace, and freedom that comes with it. 💛 A little education upfront just helps buyers feel more confident and avoid surprises later.
I put together this guide to help buyers better understand some of the things that are common in Southern Illinois rural properties and what questions to ask during the process.
If you’re thinking about buying land, a farmhouse, acreage, or country property and don’t know where to start, I’m always happy to help.
