PUBLIC STATEMENT: STUDENT ACCOMMODATION POSITION
Simeka Heights, operated by Mutodo Properties, wishes to formally clarify its position regarding student accommodation placements and related communications.
At present, the only active and binding accommodation arrangement in place is with the University of Venda (Univen). While there has been interest from other stakeholders regarding possible student placements, no additional contracts, agreements, or commitments have been entered into or signed, despite any communications or assumptions that may have been made.
We further wish to distance Simeka Heights from any advertisements, promotions, or representations currently being circulated that suggest or imply partnerships, student placements, or accommodation arrangements outside of our agreement with the University of Venda. Any such adverts or communications were not authorised by Simeka Heights or Mutodo Properties.
In light of ongoing student accommodation planning and capacity considerations, Simeka Heights will not be accommodating TVET College students. This position is necessary to ensure that we do not overcommit, create false expectations or entitlements, or expose the organisation to operational or legal risk.

Our focus remains on:
• Honouring existing contractual obligations
• Managing student numbers responsibly
• Avoiding unauthorised or misleading communications
• Ensuring a stable, well-managed living environment
• Communicating clearly and transparently with all stakeholders

We would like to reassure University of Venda students that Simeka Heights remains fully committed to accommodating Univen students, in line with our current agreement and operational mandate.
This decision is not discriminatory in nature, but is based strictly on contractual status, capacity planning, and responsible accommodation management as a private entity.
We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all parties. Any future changes to this position will be communicated formally and directly by Simeka Heights management through official channels only.

📣 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT | STANDING AGAINST GBV 🖤

Today, the Simeka Heights team stands together in solidarity with Women for Change SA, and with all victims and survivors of Gender-Based Violence and femicide.

Our staff came together dressed in black, raising their voices in silence and unity to honour the countless women whose lives have been affected or lost due to violence.
This is more than a moment; it is a commitment.
