Not the first time I’ve seen an investor throw away a great buying opportunity for a stupid reason.

Focus on long term & high value factors when deciding on a property & there is a good chance you’ll win long term.

You will, however hear me tell you that you’re an idiot, if you or your broker are not regularly requesting rate reviews.

Let’s do this whole 2016 trend hey.

👶 Valentina and I were in our mid-20’s
We remember feeling like adults, but we looked so young.

🏠 We had just moved out of home for the first time together.
One bedroom apartment in North Sydney, owner paid $988,000 off the plan in 2015, it’s worth $914,000 today. Yep, -$74,000. High density apartments are the Kryptonite to capital growth. Rent them, don’t buy them.

🎓 Valentina graduated Uni
Graduation ceremony was the morning after her first ever night shift, she went straight from work to the ceremony!

❌ We owned nothing
I had been pre approved for an investment in 2014, but chickened out. Little did I know it, I’d missed out on ~12%-15% annual growth in Sydney in that period.

🏦 We had no idea 10 short years later, we’d be running a finance business
I wish I had the kind of broker I am today in 2013, I am certain I would have pulled the trigger with more expert guidance. Lesson, choose your team wisely.

⏭️ Not looking forward to the 2026 trend in 10-years, we look older but still young now. Not so sure that’ll be the case in 2036!

Seasons.

☀️ Tying to achieve “life balance” is something that’s played alot on my mind in recent years. I’ve failed miserably.

🍂 In that failure, I’ve realised having balance doesn’t exist. Life has seasons.

❄️ Some seasons you work like a dog, others it’s slower place. Some seasons you’re buying, renovating, extracting equity, others you do ‘nothing’, while you prepare for the next faze.

🌸 Pimpi isn’t the only one gazing into the distance plotting & planning in this household.

2026 is going to be a life defining season.
